Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners. Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also quiet and operates when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds. 2. IRobot Roomba X30 The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning. This top-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. robotvacuummops has a battery life that is comparable to other models. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos. 3. iRobot Roomba X40 With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads). It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads. The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to fall asleep. It's also a bit expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most. iRobot L20 Ultra The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads. The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions. The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features “Intelligent Dirt Detection”, which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be. For larger homes it's recommended to choose a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very beneficial. iRobot RX3 The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base. The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan and any “no go” areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning. It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area. The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana.
